TRAX API Integration: Connecting Your Store to Sonic
What TRAX has confirmed about store connections, what you should ask TRAX before you start, and general tips for building a safe tracking feature.
What TRAX Has Confirmed
A busy online shop cannot type every order by hand. A store connection sends order details to the courier for you, so labels and tracking numbers are made without copying and pasting.
TRAX says its Sonic platform connects to online stores. It can book parcels automatically, create airway bills in bulk and keep tracking updated for your store.
TRAX has not published its technical details, such as web addresses, data formats, login method, limits or fees. So we do not guess them here. Ask TRAX for its current technical guide before you start building.
What a Connection Usually Does
Based on what TRAX has confirmed, a store connection helps with four jobs:
1. Booking Parcels
Your store sends each order’s address, phone number and cash amount, and gets back a tracking number and airway bill. Check every detail before a parcel is booked.
2. Tracking Updates
Tracking information comes back into your store, so you and your buyers can see where a parcel is. TRAX tracking numbers are letters and numbers printed on the booking receipt or sent by SMS.
3. Bulk Airway Bills
You can print airway bills for many parcels at once. Each parcel needs a printed airway bill with a barcode before pickup.
4. Pickups
Pickups are booked through the Sonic seller portal. For same-day collection, book before 3:00 PM. Riders collect between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM on working days.
Questions to Ask TRAX First
Before you build anything, ask TRAX these questions:
How to Connect
Ask which connection methods are available for your account, how you log in and where you manage settings. Test with a few orders before a busy sale.
Keep Access Safe
Keep your login details and keys private. Do not paste them into chats or emails. Give a developer only the access they need, and remove it when the work is done.
Status Updates
Ask whether TRAX can send updates to your store when a parcel status changes, and what those updates look like. Do not promise buyers automatic messages until you have tested them.
General Tips for Errors and Limits
Slow Down and Retry
Most online services limit how many requests you can send in a short time. If you get an error, wait a little before trying again, and wait longer after each try.
Check Details First
Check buyer phone numbers and city names in your store before you book. Simple typing mistakes are a common reason for failed bookings.
Tips for Your Own Tracking Page
If your website lets shoppers track parcels, do not send every click straight to the courier. These general tips help:
Save Recent Results
Save each tracking result for a minute or two. If a worried buyer presses Refresh many times, show the saved result instead of asking the courier again.
Combine Repeat Requests
If many requests arrive for the same tracking number at once, send just one request and share the answer.
Pause When the Courier Is Down
If the courier’s system is slow or down, stop sending requests for a short time and show a friendly message instead of an error.
